The Employer of the Year demonstrates how sustainable, cross-generational people strategy strengthens both organisational performance and social impact

At the Awards Presentation Ceremony in March 2026, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP) was named Excellent Employer of the Year for the second conse cutive year and achieved the 3-Year Recognition Award — a distinction that underscores sustained excellence rather than onetime success.
For CLP Power Human Resources Director Priscilla Chau, participation in the Awards serves both external and internal purposes.
“The primary motives for CLP to continuously par ticipate in the programme in 2025/2026 would be both externally for employer branding and internally for CLP’s team recognition.”
“Our achievements in various award categories covering Age Friendly Workplace, Gen Z Attraction, Employee Wellness, Talent Policy Pioneer are accredited by HKIHRM third party independent panel which help us to tell a sharp story what we stand out as an employer of choice and differentiate ourselves through our unique company culture of ‘Care, Excellence and Responsibility’ with concrete proof points.”

EXTENDING HR OUTREACH
For CLP, the Awards also recognise that people excellence extends beyond the HR function “Through the participation, we aim to earn pride not only for our HR team but other CLP functions such as Power Academy and Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Department which contribute significantly to our long-term people commitment,” Priscilla explained.
“Today, people-centric culture is beyond just within HR ’s four walls to build but through ongoing collaboration and initiatives enhancement across functions to make the best fit and business impacts.”
This enterprise-wide integration reflects how CLP aligns workforce strategy with broader transformation priorities. The Awards framework itself, she noted, provides a valuable benchmark. “HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards framework often reflects current best people practices, the industrial benchmark highlights gaps and opportunities. Over time, this supports a continuous-improvement loop in CLP people strategy along with our business transformation journey.”
RECOGNITION AND ELEVATION
Further, the Awards send a broader message to the HR profession.
“As a proud award recipient from the HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards 2025/2026, I believe the key message these awards convey to the HR profession is recognition and elevation.” She emphasised that the Awards strengthen unity within the HR community and reinforce the profession’s influence.
“They inspire pride by highlighting innovative practices that drive excellence, reminding us that HR is not just a support function but a pivotal force in organisational and societal success.”
Priscilla revealed that one of the most important values of the Awards is that they establish a common benchmark. “The most important value of the HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards is that it sets a common benchmark for ‘what good looks like’ in HR, encouraging us to think beyond our legacy practices and consider our role in building a better workforce.”

MAKE SUSTAINABLE IMPACTS
“To enhance the awards’ sustainable impact on the Hong Kong HR industry, winners could share case studies on their awarded practices, creating a repository of best practices accessible to all HKIHRM members. This would extend the awards’ influence, promoting peer learning and sustainable knowledge transfer.”
Such initiatives, she believes, would help promote practical innovation, ethical standards and long-termvalue in Hong Kong’s talent-scarce and GBA-connected market.
THE HUMAN STORIES BEHIND THE POLICIES
When talking about the award journey, Priscilla stressed that it is the human moments that remain most meaningful.
“What truly stays with me aren’t just HR programmes, but the moments where we saw genuine impact.” Being recognised for age friendly workplace practices brought these moments into focus.
“I’ll never forget a retiree, after 30 years with us, leading a power station visit with such infectious passion that the secondary school students were captivated,” she shared.'
“Our visitation programme lets experienced hands like him mentor the next generation – and seeing his pride reignited reminded me that expertise doesn’t expire. It’s why we champion flexible paths beyond traditional retirement.”
She also recalled a deeply personal encounter. “A young female engineer bumped into me, relieved she could opt in the flexible medical plan to prioritise maternity benefits coverage. It wasn’t about the policy document; it was her quiet ‘thank you’ for seeing her needs in the new life stage.”
Another meaningful moment emerged during a caregiver workshop. “During a caregiver workshop, an employee shared the stress of caring for aging parents. The room didn’t just offer resources — it became an instant support circle. Colleagues stayed after to share contacts and stories. That’s when ‘work- life balance’ stops being a slogan and becomes tangible solidarity.”
“I am touched by what our teams collaboratively drive as a caring employer, we are not only attracting top talent but also inspiring them to join a company that truly values their contributions at every age.”
For CLP, the Awards affirm that excellence is built through consistent, inclusive and integrated people practices — across functions, across generations and across time.
